The China Field Epidemiology Training Program for Veterinarians (China FETPV) seeks to improve animal and public health using scientific and risk based approaches to the control of transboundary animal diseases, emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases. The program provides training that will benefit the economy, the community and agricultural producers, including smallholders, by improving the knowledge, expertise and experience of veterinary field epidemiologists.

Second module of China FETPV 2nd Cohort held in Qingdao and Beijing


The 2nd module of the China FETPV program was held from 1 to 26 July 2013. The course was mainly delivered by the international experts team from the Royal Veterinary College (Prof. Dirk Pfeiffer, Prof. Javier Guitian, Dr. Julian Drewe and Dr. Guillaume Fournie). Chinese trainers also assisted in course delivery. This module focused on building up knowledge and skills on outbreak investigation, risk assessment and disease control strategies. The couse was designed as a combination of interactive lectures, case studies, group exercises, scientific workshops, as well as group and individual assignments. After this module, trainees will start their field epidemiological studies and outbreak investigations. The next module is planned for late November 2013 when trainees will review their field practices.
